關於走火入魔  (節錄自郭明義 "一貫道的修持觀" Lily Zhang 翻譯)


 


問:修行過程中有時會有些殊異的感應、境界,像用三寶時,有時會特別喜悅,這種感覺是不是一定不好,會不會走火入魔?


 


QWill it be bad reactions if I have special feelings like extreme joy or unusual vision when doing the Three Treasure practice?


    修行並不是一定不能有境界或一定不會有境界,而是「不要執著境界」。


    It’s hard to prevent special feelings during the religious practice. However, the most important is that we should not attach to them.


    楞嚴經中講五十一種陰魔,對修行者會碰到的一切境界都有詳盡描述,這些境界原本只是修行過程中的一些偶發事件,若不執著則修行往前邁進,但若執著,則必陷入陰魔之中。對天道弟子而言,在修行過程中會產生的境界,包括心生愉悅、開悟、及種種仙佛方便顯化,種種修行過程中的身心感應都是正常的,只要不去貪執,而且知道這一切都是幻化不實的,都是過程,自然不會著魔。避免著魔還有一個方法-多叩首。


    According to Buddhist sutra Shuryogon-gyo, there are 51 states in which one is possessed by an evil spirit. It describes every state in detail. These states are only certain incidents in the process. If the practitioner doesn’t attach to them and go on the practice, he can make progress; if he attaches to them too much, he is sure to be possessed by evil spirits.


    For Tao members, such states include pleasure, joy, awareness to something, or many vision about Buddha and bodhisattvas. These mental or physical reactions are normal as long as you don’t attach to them. They are only the process and illusion. Think this way, and you won’t be possessed. Another way to prevent being possessed is to prostrate often. 


    天道弟子只要善用「合同」時常叩首,這種境界,自然消失在無形之中,不必去對治。合同是我們與天地間一個最好的平等橋樑,透過合同我們與天地間一切眾生平等,如心經所言:「不增不減」。


    If a Tao member can make good use of Hand seal (mudra) to prostrate, the above states will disappear naturally. You don’t need to control them. Hand Seal is the best bridge to combine us with heaven and earth. Through it, we can feel equal to each sentient being in the world, understanding everyone’s true nature is the same as Buddha’s nature. As Heart Sutra said: “ There is no decrease and no increase.”


牛頭慧忠禪師亦言:


A great Zen master Hui-zong said:


「人法雙淨,善惡兩忘;直心真實,菩提道場。」


Put down the ego and things of elements. Never think good or evil. Face the truth with your Buddha nature. This is the pure land in which everyone is pure and equal.


    唯有放下「我」也放下「法」才能人我兩空、善惡俱離,而以最平常平易最真實的直心來完成渡眾生的事業。


    Only when we let go the ego and Dharma can we escape the attachment of good and evil, ego and others. In this way, we can complete the mission of saving sentient beings with the true nature.
