19880705 Weekly World News

wife's dramatic proof of reincarnation.

My dead hubby came back as a parrot

By RAGAN DUNN

A Swiss college professor says her dead husband has been reincarnated as a parrot!

“My colleagues thought I was crazy until they heard the birdmy husbandspeak for himself,” Dr. Frances Speck, 49, told reporters in Bern.

“Now they are as dumbfounded as I am. They’re calling this the best proof of reincarnation yet.”

Dr. Speck said she bought the bird from a mail order firm six weeks after husband Emil Speck had a fatal heart attack at their home south of Bern.

She didn't realize it at the time, but the bird's papers showed that it hatched the day after her husband died.

“The bird was quite expensive and the breeders offered a guarantee that he would talk,” said Dr. Speck.

“But I knew something was different about him the first time he began to speak. I decided to call him Yves and tried to teach him to say it.

“But he just kept screeching Emil, Emil” even though I never mentioned my dead husband in his presence.

As time passed the bird actually began to act like the dead man, said Dr. Speck. And as its vocabulary improved, she added, it even started to reminisce about their life as a married couple.

“The bird's brain capacity is limited so I have to fill in some blanks,” said Dr. Speck. “When he says May 25, for example, I know he's referring to our wedding day.

“Then I'll go get our wedding album and we'll flip through the pages together.

Paranormal researcher Tim Kristobal originally doubted that the bird was Dr. Speck's husband.

“I thought she taught the bird to act and talk like Mr. Speck,” he told reporters. But after interviewing the bird myself, I am convinced that it possesses the man's knowledge and memories.

Dr.Speck said: “I am thrilled that Emil has returned to be with me.”
